On my way to Washington, D.C. - Frontlines

Well. My team of 5 young adults and I are 25 hours away from leaving Grand Bay for a 975 mile journey to boldly carry the gospel to our nations capital. As I sit here sipping a caramel macchiato. I find myself swimming through different feelings and thoughts, some good and of course some bad.

In this coffee shop it is easy to envision myself just standing at the Washington monument open-air preaching boldly declaring the gospel and urging men and women to repent of their sin and rebelion and turn to God through faith in Christ. But I know when we arrive I might not feel as bold....
If you know me well enough you know my greatest strength is one on one witnessing, which believe me I plan on doing for the bulk of my efforts personally. But I do not rule out open air preaching, even though it takes a great deal of courage. I know my team members would be up for any way God moves us to share the gospel. I feel so humbled to be entrusted to lead such a great team of individuals that have a heart of compassion and such a desire to see people turn to Christ that it would drive them to be couragous for the sake of the gospel.

Ok, so back to my thoughts that I mentioned in the beginning. I am no stranger to thoughts of discouragement. Any time I set out to reach people they seem to always (without fail) bombard me.
How do I fight that and rise above it?.... Glad you asked!!
I simply go back to the scriptures and read. I see men who relentlessly proclaimed the gospel of Christ even unto death, men like Stephen who declared the gospel even while being stoned to death!!

Also I read Acts 20:24. Thank you Paul for your example! I derive strength and inspiration from those who went before us by reading Foxes book of Martyrs as well as DCTalks "Jesus Freaks".
I find my boldness again quickly!

This last week has really blown me away, just the incredible individuals and churches that have backed us financially without us doing any real "Fundraiser" we are seriously fully funded!!
Reminds me of that old saying "Where God guides, He provides.

I just wanted to write to you briefly to share my thoughts and let you know how to keep up with us.
I will be blogging daily during our trip with updates and stories from the frontlines at https://rethinkmissions.wordpress.com/2016/05/30/stories-from-the-frontlines-jonnys-weekly-blog/
